Ongoing Conversion. Ongoing Formation.
Sunday School is a practical path for families and small groups to encounter Christ, form habits of discipleship, grow in spiritual maturity, and learn to share Christ with others.
EXPLORE THE FORMATION PATH →CONVERSION IS A WHOLE-LIFE REORIENTATION
Christian formation is not a one-time event. It is an ongoing movement away from sin and toward God, sustained by grace, disciplined practice, and relationships that help believers mature.
Conversion is “a radical reorientation of the whole life away from sin and evil, and toward God.”
RADICAL IN THE SPIRITUAL DIMENSION
The world is full of movements that call people to radical commitments in material, political, or social life. Authentic Christian conversion calls for something different: a radical reorientation of the spiritual life toward God.
The outline describes this as being immersed so deeply in divine love that the believer becomes a temple of the Holy Spirit—learning to live from grace rather than merely from outward habit.
The goal is not extremism in worldly affairs, but a life increasingly surrendered to the love of the Father and the transforming presence of the Holy Spirit.
THREE PHASES OF LEARNING
The Sunday School model uses the language of coaching, mentoring, and spiritual direction to describe different stages of formation.
Catholic Coaching
Teach the basics, especially in childhood. Parents are ideally the first coaches, helping children discover Christ and begin discerning the gifts God has given them for service in the Body of Christ.
Catholic Mentoring
As gifts and responsibilities become clearer, mentoring helps a disciple follow Christ by building the disciplines needed to live the faith wholeheartedly.
Catholic Spiritual Direction
Formation deepens as the believer internalizes the truth of Christ, surrenders more fully to grace, and learns to pursue spiritual maturity in communion with others.
FROM FORMATION TO INTENTIONAL COMMUNITY
Just as a team contains members with different gifts and specialized roles, the outline presents the Body of Christ as a community in which each person is called to discover how his or her gifts serve Jesus's mission.
Once those gifts are discerned and the necessary disciplines are formed, disciples join with others who are pursuing the same goal. These intentional communities are places where Christians help one another discover Christ, follow Christ, and share Christ.
The outline distinguishes the material life of a neighborhood from its spiritual life. Civic communities should be places of peace and stability; Christians within them are then called to “embrace the grace” of baptism and be the Church in the midst of society.
Love your neighbor with a radical love that only God can implant in you.
A FORMATION MODEL FOR MISSIONARY DISCIPLESHIP
The outline grounds this approach in four complementary sources of Catholic formation and evangelization.
Accurate Teaching
The Catechism of the Catholic Church provides a common foundation for teaching and formation.
Magisterial Guidance
The teaching and missionary vision associated with Pope St. John Paul II and Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, later Pope Benedict XVI.
Community Structure
The community model associated in the outline with Josef Cardinal Cordes.
Schools of Evangelization
The evangelization work inspired by Fr. Tom Forrest, CSsR, as a practical model for forming missionary disciples.
WHAT SUNDAY SCHOOL LOOKS LIKE

REGISTER OR SUBSCRIBE
Beginners can start with the Missionary Discipleship Training Academy. The outline proposes different subscription levels for individuals, small groups, and parish teams.
Individual
Or $120 per year.
- Start the formation series individually.
- Includes access described in the outline to CMAX TV, personal-enrichment material, and DEEP Dive videos.
Small Group
Suggested for a group of three couples.
- Build a regular Sunday School rhythm together.
- Name your small group and grow through shared formation.
Parish Team
Suggested for a parish facilitation team of roughly 10–15 couples or more.

Every Home Is a Domestic Church
These domestic churches are called to be awakened to their evangelistic and formative power. Married couples are called to live as ambassadors for Christ and ministers of reconciliation, helping their families and neighbors grow in faith.
